Bandai UK Ltd is the manufacturer and master toy licensee of some of the most popular brands in children’s toys and interactive entertainment today and has been responsible for changing the face of play globally, with brands such as Tamagotchi, Gundam and Pac Man. In addition to their own IP, they are also proud to be representing many very successful third party brands.
Immerse Agency was tasked with creating an innovative, interactive, fun and rewarding campaign for the newly released Dragon Ball Super franchise and its fiercely loyal followers – showcasing the impressive amount of merchandise that is available to buy from Smyths, Game, Argos and B&M stores – Smyths being a focal point.
We had to work to incredibly strict and stringent licensor guidelines to be able to implement and execute our campaign on time and on budget.
We created a 10m x 10m inflatable branded cube. At almost 6m high, our structure created a real and impressive visual impact. Due to Smyths being such a focus for Bandai, Immerse targeted large retail parks around the country with close proximity to large Smyths stores, driving footfall in store to purchase. We activated in Manchester (Elk Mill), Liverpool (New Mersey), Essex (Lakeside) and Bristol (Cribbs Causeway). Within the cube was a plethora of fun Dragon Ball themed and branded experiences such as photo booth (social media capabilities), wind machine, 3 x Playstations, a wheel of fortune, Gashapon machines, Japanese Billiards,a Dragon Ball mascot and two huge statuettes. Multiple competitions, and prizes were also available on the day.
The results were extremely impressive, with large and consistent numbers of visitors throughout each weekend – with an extraordinary number of mega fans arriving all dressed up in their own Dragon Ball apparel. Our Brand Ambassadors where engaging and seemed to love the brand as much as the participants, the only negative was that we couldn’t do more locations 😊.
